It appears that UFC celebrity Conor”Notorious” McGregor could be back in action again for first time because UFC 229 last October, however, it may be a return to the boxing ring rather than the Octagon. His opponent you ask? Manny Pacquaio? Canelo Alvarez? Paulie Malignaggi? Luke Keeler, wait who? Fighter Luke Keeler challenged his fellow countryman and took a shot on social media regarding a bar incident in mid-August McGregor.
Online sportsbook BetOnline has set out two lines concerning this spat on if the battle will take place in 2019 using”Yes” coming in at +450 and also”No” coming straight back at -700. In addition, a betting line at the event this struggle does happen and that’s Keeler as a -225 favorite with McGregor.
Again, McGregor finds himself in the spotlight for the wrong reason outside of the Octagon. The Ireland native has a history of slip-ups lately as he was detained for throwing a dolly in a UFC bus before UFC 223 in early April of 2018 and was arranged five weeks of community service and also had to do anger management courses. Fast forward to early March of the prior winner and the year was in trouble again for shooting the telephone of a man and hammering against it on the floor. Criminal charges and the lawsuit were dismissed.
Now, a movie was released in mid-August of the season of McGregor getting in an altercation with an elderly man at a pub following a dispute over some whiskey, it seems, along with the UFC fighter threw a left punch which hit the man in the face. Fighter Luke Keeler who asserts McGregor did the identical thing to a pal of his years and issued a challenge to get a boxing match. Both agreed to a bout and exchanged words.
I am torn with this. This can be just another chance for McGregor to get following some heat, make some money and if he won, a legitimate boxing game, it may stir up rumors of fighting Manny Pacquiao or even a Floyd Mayweather rematch. Additionally, with Zuffa Boxing becoming set to debut soon which will be run Dana White , by UFC president, that would be a large event for their show that would get plenty of sign-ups and eyes in general.
On the reverse side, White may not want his own prized possession to get to the overall population and risk dropping to him which are the third reduction in McGregor four fights and second directly in boxing. With a loss to Keeler, some other big-money boxing game with McGregor or the Mayweather rematch would likely be dashed.
I think that this fight would happen behind closed doors at the house health club of Keeler. Very Comparable to the feud leading the May-Mac struggle in 2017 upward. Currently Fact Shark contributors Iain MacMillan and Joe Osborne think that people would not pass up on cashing in on this possible bout, I believe that the danger may outweigh the benefit.
One of the greatest reasons that has cost McGregor victories previously is that his conditioning he claims he is working . Notorious did land a uppercut on Mayweather, a defensive magician in the ring, early in their bout but the undefeated boxer hardly affected. It begs the issue of does he possess the punching power to the level of fighters that train on punching instead of fretting about kicks, clinches and grappling.
Meanwhile, Keeler has steadily risen the middleweight (160 pounds ) division and will be the fourth-ranked fighter in the WBO middleweight rankings and can be headquartered in Ireland. He’s unbeaten in his last eight fights because his loss to Tom Doran in April of 2016, to because he dropped in 2015 to Doran too, the person he has lost. Keeler can continue to keep a speed for the full period of a bout and is quite competitive.
Overall, McGregor is a little unconventional and punches can throw from angles that capture the conventional boxing style off guard. He does a good job in countering he must have plenty of opportunities to do against a fighter like Keeler. All of that said, Keeler has great conditioning and could haul McGregor into seas that are deep and??put him apart. I think ultimately a decision would be scored by Keeler within this bout with McGregor winning the remainder of the game shutting out.
