Texas Rangers at Milwaukee Brewers MLB Pick – August 11th

I didn’t bet on the New York Mets yesterdayand I am going to betting on the Mets now, but I wished to have a few moments to understand what this team is doing at the moment. When the Mets produced the blockbuster proceed to get starting pitcher Marcus Stroman from the Toronto Blue Jays before the July 31st trade deadline, then the initial backlash was fierce. The pundits and fans were scratching their own heads, and also on paper, the move just didn’t create a great deal of sense.
The Mets were seemingly from playoff contention and have been supposed to be purchasing some of their best men including Eddie Diaz and Noah Syndergaard. Rather, they retained all of their best guys and brought in Stroman in from Toronto, in a desperate bid to get back in the playoff picture. I personally saw it as one of the more perplexing moves of the previous decade and laughed and thought to myself, as average Mets move, entirely assuming it’d blow up in their face like numerous transactions have before.
And then something shifted to the Mets. They caught fire. And all the sudden this team needs to be feared from the National League. The Mets have reeled off fifteen wins in their last sixteen games and are back on the right side of .500 and so are just a half a match of the next NL wild card. And it’s not simply that they are winning, it’s how they are winning. It’s a different hero every night for all these miracle Mets. It seems that each and every night they get into a situation where they will lose and discover a means to stage a successful comeback.
The amount on New York today is too large to profitably back them as they are placing -200 with ace Jacob deGrom about the mound. But be certain you keep your attention on this team. Baseball is a humorous game, so much of it’s based around momentum. When you have it, things just seem to break your own way. When you don’t, there are times when you can not get a win. Right now, the Mets surely have it. For the current selection, we’ll head to Milwaukee where the Brewers are seeking to sweep off up the Texas Rangers.
The Texas Rangers have been at Milwaukee Sunday, hoping to avoid getting trapped. The Rangers have lost four straight games, two of these into the Brewers in this show, along with their season is fast winding to a close. While Texas didn’t maintain the fire sale that many expected at the trade deadline, but they also didn’t go out and acquire much ability, along with the Rangers are currently nine games back of even the 2nd wild card from the American League.
For the Brewers, they did a wonderful job of adding several capable arms for their staff since they added men like Drew Pomeranz, Jake Faria, Ray Black, along with tonight’s rookie Jordan Lyles. And the motions are starting to actually give this squad an increase since they’ve won five straight games and are currently just a game and a half of the Chicago Cubs for first place in the NL Central Division race.
Starting now for the Brewers is Jordan Lyles (7-7 4.97 ERA), and also for the Rangers, it’s Mike Minor (10-6 3.06 ERA). The game total over-under is placed in runs. The Brewers are -126 home favorites. First pitch is scheduled for 11:10 AM PST from Miller Park in Milwaukee.
Occasionally a trade simply does not appear to create a lot of sense when it is first made. That was the case with all the Mets and Marcus Stroman, and that was also true when the Brewers caused beginning pitcher Jordan Lyles. Lyles was struggling through an awful season before being moved. In his past four starts prior to getting exchanged, Lyles had gotten smashed for twenty-five runs in just seventeen innings worked. I don’t know off hand what ERA that adds up to, but it is really significant. And you need to rememberthis guy was pitching for the Pittsburgh Pirates, at precisely the same branch as the Brewers.
It was difficult to expect the man to become better in Milwaukee as he had been in Pittsburgh. But he sure has figured out things so much in Milwaukee! In his two starts with his new group, he has pitched a joint ten innings and has allowed only two earned runsand also the Brewers won both games. Occasionally a change of scenery out of a last-place team from contention to a group right in the mix of a pennant race is everything it can take to get a man to flip things around.
Mike Minor is enduring through the specific opposite of what Jordan Lyles is going through because many people expected him to get traded to a competitor, and he ended up staying in Texas. Minor was a popular trade goal for several contending clubs, but a deal couldn’t be created, and here he is currently finishing his season out with a Rangers team heading .
Plus it looked like the stress of possibly getting traded was sporting on Minor because he was awful at July. Heading into July, Minor was 8-4 with a 2.40 ERA and has been chosen to the Al All-Star team. But throughout the month leading up to the trade deadline, then he was just 1-2 with a 6.59 ERA in five starts, and the Rangers went 1-4 in those five matches. Those struggles may have been kept Minor in Texas because his value dropped at the wrong moment. Minor’s first post-trade deadline start proved to be a great one as he pitched seven shutout innings from the Cleveland Indians.
This can be an interesting game. A month ago, I’d have loved backing Minor getting dog cash. However he’s really struggled since then, and I am no longer confident he can move in and shut down a good hitting team like the Brewers. When you look at this Texas lineup, they just aren’t the same with no Joey Gallo about the field.
Together with Gallo sidelined with injury, this team is 28th in the majors in runs scored from the month of August. They’re scoring just more than three runs on the game, and they are hitting an abysmal .206 for a team. While I’m not really that convinced that Lyles could keep his good results, I know that the Brewers won’t be leaving him in the match all that long anyhow as they love to turn matters over to their bullpen at any indication of distress.
I think Minor gets roughed up some, along with the Brewers with a committee of Lyles and their bullpen, find a way to make the most of this slumping Rangers lineup and fill out the sweep. I talked above about endings, and at the moment, the Brewers have this, along with the Rangers don’t. And I am going to make the most of these trends and fire the Brewers now. Give me that the Milwaukee Brewers today as home favorites in match three from Miller Park at -126!
