Davies Jr vs Ritson: Savannah Marshall seals early win over Ashleigh Curry in Newcastle
Since Ashleigh Curry in the next round ruthlessly stopped at Newcastle Arena, savannah Marshall remained on course for a domain fight.
The former world amateur champion was a class above her opponent, with the towel being thrown into by Curry’s corner once Marshall piled on the punches to bring up her professional victory.
From the opening bell, Marshall created a competitive launch, forcing Curry to cover up on the ropes with crisp shots from head.
Marshall was on the verge of a stoppage victory at the second as Curry wilted under the other debilitating combination.
The corner of the Missouri fighter trimmed her locks during the rest with scissors, as Marshall peppered her punches to induce the stoppage, but she had been dishevelled in the next.
Promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed that a shot could be received by Marshall at one of the world winners in her fight.
“It is so hard in this branch, another step-up is for world championships,” said Hearn. “It’s time to see what Savannah Marshall is all about. She has to struggle for a world title .”
On the undercard favorite Joe Laws extended his unbeaten record with an points win over Justice Addy in their battle to eight successes.
