Andy Walker backs Rangers to push Celtic all the way in title race
Top-of-the-league Rangershave every opportunity of finish Celtics eight-year reign of dominance from the Premiership this year, according to former Hoops striker Andy Walker.
Celtic fell after Sundays 2-0 defeat together with Rangers sailing to a 5-0 win over Hamilton this weekend supporting their Glasgow rivals.
Rangers have been in fine form since losing to Celtic at Ibrox, winning half of the last seven games, and Walker believes – despite the winnersfinancial advantage – the Gers will choose the title race to the wire.
I feel this is going to be a terrific season, Walker told Sky Sports News.
I think you need to admire Rangers and how they have responded. Aside from this [Europa League] defeat Young Boys, their answer was terrific.
I really dont think were likely to see several points composed by Celtic and Rangers. Ironically, a draw has been followed up by Celtic using a defeat. I believe theyre going to prove to be debilitating in their quest for the name.
If Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe steer away from harm that I believe Rangers have each chance [of winning the title]. I believe from middle to front theyre creating chances. Connor Goldson is looking strong in the back but hes also popping up with 2 or a normal goal.
The response because losing to Celtic was absolutely first class. And, make no doubt, the title race is still moving right to the close of the season.
Rangers boss Steven Gerrard cautioned his players not to havetaken away following Sundays triumph as they push for their very first Scottish Premiership name since 2011.
Gerrards right to downplay talk of a title race, added Walker.
However, the lovers are speaking about it each day – not mind every week – because they are not able to see their staff cease Celtic get their ancestral [title in a row].
Celtic have the advantage in a financial sense. Arguably, they have a stronger squad.
It is perhaps somewhat surprising that Neil Lennon hasnt utilised that squad somewhat more because he mustve known that Livingston would have made it a struggle – and the players werent prepared for this.
Its a real boost for Steven Gerrard to find the way his players have reacted because that defeat Celtic at Ibrox.
