In today’s rapidly evolving technological world, digital literacy is no longer optional—it is essential. At Murang’a Teachers Training College (TTC), we are fully committed to equipping our trainee teachers with the digital skills they need to thrive in the 21st-century classroom and beyond.

What is Digital Literacy?

Digital literacy refers to the ability to use digital tools effectively and responsibly for communication, research, teaching, and lifelong learning. It involves skills such as:

  • Operating computers, tablets, and smartphones
  • Using productivity software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Navigating the internet safely and ethically
  • Engaging in e-learning platforms and online collaboration tools

Integration into the Curriculum

Murang’a TTC has integrated digital literacy training into its academic programs through:

  • ICT course units for all teacher trainees
  • Practical computer lab sessions
  • Online assessments and interactive learning materials
  • Exposure to educational technology tools used in modern classrooms

Our graduates leave the college prepared to incorporate digital content into their teaching and support learners with varying needs.

E-Learning and Online Resources

To support blended learning, the college provides:

  • Wi-Fi access across college
  • A growing digital library with e-books, journals, and teaching aids
  • Online submission portals for assignments and CATs
  • Access to platforms such as KICD e-learning resources and Google Classroom

These tools foster independent learning and improve access to information.

Partnerships and Support

Murang’a TTC collaborates with organizations such as the Ministry of Education, ICT Authority, and other TTCs to align our training with national digital learning initiatives like DigiSchool and Competency-Based Teacher Education (CBTE).

In today’s world, being digitally literate means being empowered. At Murang’a TTC, we train teachers who are not just knowledgeable—but digitally competent and future-ready.” – ICT Unit
